Collage 5 *SOLD*
The first image is the collage for sale- the rest of the images are for size comparison.
The majority of the imagery is created through a variety of printmaking techniques, cut out and collaged into these one-of-a-kind works of art.
Materials: Lithography, block-printing, india ink, gouache paint, marker, pencil, papercutting
BFK White Paper: 9"x13"
With my hoard of cutout prints, I repurpose them into a collage with results that twist, squirm, pucker, and tuck. Utilizing a variety of paper with different types of translucence, the layers build up and images from beneath begin seeping through. Alewife eyes, lamprey tails, and mussels peek through the layers, an imitation of the piles found on the shore. These collages mingle between the seen and unseen, just as the margin of the shore behaves. The collage is not limited to cut paper, instead including a wide range of supplies from marker and india ink to papercut and citrasolv transfer. The result is chaotic gatherings, clustered together that writhe and fidget across the paper. I find myself turning to the forms of these invaders time and time again to use in my work as a way to help people understand that the lake has truly undergone a dramatic transformation.
