ARTIST, AUTHOR, EDUCATOR

Um yes, hello!

Hi, I’m Geo from Sauk City, Wisconsin! I wear many hats—artist, author, and teacher—but I’m also a TikTok and Instagram creator with over 2 million combined followers. Before my accidental internet fame, I spent my entire career in art education and nonprofit work. This year is particularly exciting because my first book, which I both wrote and illustrated, is being released on September 24th! The book, titled Spooky Lakes: 25 Strange and Mysterious Lakes that Dot Our Planet, perfectly blends my love for science, history, art, and all things strange and wild. The lakes featured in the book aren’t spooky because of ghosts or ghouls, but rather due to natural phenomena, scientific oddities, human interactions, environmental disasters, and the mysteries lurking beneath the surface.

It’s Spooky Lake Month where we do 31 days of Haunted Hydrology!

In October 2020, I started the “Spooky Lake Month”, series on TikTok. Each video tells a spooky story about a lake on this planet in under three minutes. Everyday for the month of October, I cover a new topic ranging from Lake Nicaragua, a freshwater lake with uninvited bull sharks, to Lake Karachay, a radioactive lake used as a dumping ground for nuclear waste in the 1950s. Spooky Lakes are not about conspiracy theories or the supernatural but are instead an opportunity to learn about natural phenomena, historical events, environmental disasters and strange happenings surrounding lakes and other hydrology. Thank you for all the support on this series, it has a special place in my heart and it's changed my life. Good soup!!
